Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team were called out at 4pm on New Year's Eve to a group of walkers in need of rescue on the Brecon Beacons between Pen Y Fan and Cribyn.

The persistent weather conditions had ruined the group's walk with two members picking up hypothermia and leg injuries.

As they entered the Neuadd Valley, the team called for assistance from Brecon Mountain Rescue Team from the Pont ar Daf side of the valley, and while doing so they became aware that some passers by, one of whom known as “David” had helped get the group to the summit of Pen Y Fan, saving the teams a lot of time.

The teams then relocated from Neuadd to Pont ar Daf and accessed the hill to find the groups who were hypothermic.

Everyone was brought back down the hill safely to the car park.

A spokesperson for Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team said: "Once rewarmed and refreshed all the groups headed home, we then returned to our base and homes to rejoin family and friends about 8pm-ish for the latter stages of New Year’s Eve.

"Happy New Year everyone!"
