A fire crew was called out to Llandrindod Wells yesterday after smoke and sparks were seen to be coming out from under a road near the town centre.
The Llandrindod crew from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended Middleton Street shortly after 10:20am yesterday morning amid the concerning reports.
After police quickly cordoned off the road, it was discovered that the cause of the issue was undergound power cables, which were sparking and smoking through a hole dug on Saturday.
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement: "At 10.21am on Sunday, April 2, the Llandrindod Wells crew was called to an incident in Middleton Street, Llandrindod Wells.
