Police are investigating after graffiti was left on a heritage site in the Elan Valley.
Buildings at the Cwm Elan Mine were defaced sometime between April 1 and May 13.
The rural crime division of Dyfed-Powys Police is now investigating this incident of heritage crime, which includes criminal damage.
“The site is accessed via a footpath meaning that the offender(s) have had a considerable walk in order to deface and damage the site,” the police said.
“If you have any information that can assist the investigation, or recognised the graffiti tags please get in touch with the team - [email protected].”
Cwm Elan Mine dates back to 1796, when a vein of lead ore was discovered by a farm worker while digging a drainage leat for the land owner Thomas Grove of Cwm Elan House.
Work ceased at the mine in September 1877.
