They were called out by Heddlu Dyfed-Powys Police and called in support from Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team, Brecon Mountain Rescue Team and, with the seriousness of the reported injury, airborne support from Maritime and Coastguard Agency Rescue Helicopter.
The woman's ankle was treated with immobilisation and pain relief before she was carried on a stretcher to a place where the helicopter could winch her on board then fly her to hospital.
A spokesperson from Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team has said: "We thank the members of the public and our colleague from WBMRT who were close by at the outset and provided help until we arrived after raising the alarm.
"We send the lady our very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery."
