A section of the A470 will remain “closed until further notice” following a bus fire over the weekend.
In the early hours of yesterday morning (Sunday), fire crews were called out to the A470 between Storey Arms and Brecon following reports of a bus on fire.
Just before 1am, a Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crew from Brecon Fire Station, along with two crews from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, were called to the incident.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: “Crews responded to one coach that was completely destroyed by fire, crews utilised three breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets and one thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
“All persons were accounted for.
“The road was also damaged by the fire.”
The police have confirmed that there were no injuries reported and all passengers were accounted for.
The road was closed between the Defynnog turn off (A4215) and the Hirwaun turn off (A4059) all of yesterday and remained closed overnight.
Now, in the latest update, shortly before 11am this morning, the trunk road agency said that due to the damage to the road surface, the road will remain closed in both directions “until further notice”.
