Bannau Brycheiniog National Park is on the look out for a team of dedicated volunteers to walk and digitally map historic tramroads across the national park.
Thanks to joint funding from the Brecon Beacons Park Society and the Bannau Brycheiniog’s Sustainable Development Fund, the national park has been mapping, surveying, and preserving historic tramroad routes across the National Park.
These routes once played a key role in our industrial heritage, transporting vital raw materials like limestone to ironworks and beyond.
A spokesperson for the national park said: “We’ve identified 40 routes so far, with many more to go. We’re looking for a team of dedicated volunteers to walk and digitally map these roads, recording the landscape and feeding this data into the Historic Environment Record.
“Whether you're a history lover, a walking enthusiast, or just keen to explore the landscape in a new way, we’d love to hear from you.”
