BBC Weather has apologised following a glitch on their website and app which is forecasting hurricane force winds hitting the UK.

Incorrect graphics on the app are showing incredible high winds across much of the country.

According to the graphics, Brecon will today experience ‘hurricane force winds’ with an estimated wind speed of 16,052mph.

A message on the app currently reads: “We’re experiencing issued with our forecast data. We’re working to resolve it.”

BBC Weather said on social media: “You may have noticed some data issues on our app and website. We are working hard to fix it quickly. Sorry - please bare with us.”

The issue has also been acknowledged by forecasters on TV reports.
