Staff and pupils at Brecon High School evacuated the school this morning due to a smell of a gas, but have since been given the green light from gas engineers to re-enter the building.

At around 10.15am the school posted to its Facebook page that the school had been evacuated due to the smell of gas. They said that all pupils were safe and well, the gas had been switched off and the fire and rescue service were in attendance.

A further update from the school said that the fire service had left the scene and gas engineers were still on hand to resolve the issue.

Following this at 11.40am the school posted a further update which said: “We have had the Green light from the gas engineers to safely re-enter the building. The situation has been resolved. The school day will end as usual at 3.30pm.

“Thank your patience, understanding, and continued support.”
