Brecon Mountain Rescue has reached its £1.1m target for its brand new headquarters.

The Team announced the news yesterday, thinking everyone who has donated to and supported their campaign, and revealed that plans can now go “full steam ahead”.

The Team said on their website that work will begin on site in the spring, and it is hoped that their new HQ will be completed by the end of 2023.

The new headquarters, which will be on the outskirts of Brecon, will be designed to help the team respond quicker to emergency calls, store life-saving equipment properly and carry out more training exercises as a full team.

Having a bigger training room will also enable other community organisations, such as Scouts, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and Ramblers Cymru to use the facility for educational purposes.

Brecon Mountain Rescue Team is an emergency service staffed entirely by volunteers and funded entirely by public donations. It still needs to raise around £55,000 every year for their everyday operating costs, to continue saving lives.
