Brecon Pride will be returning to town for the second year on Saturday, July 27, and it’s back bigger than ever!
Organised by both Brecon Town Council and Brecon Pride volunteers, you can expect a day of music, fun, and incredible performances from some of the best acts in the area.
Ahead of the main event, a parade will leave from Dinas Road at 11:45am and head through the High Street, accompanied by a samba band.
The day’s events will take place at the King George V Playing Fields from 12 midday, and will be hosted by Welsh drag sensation Catrin Feelings. Performers this year include Taiko Drummers, Dylan Matthews, Amyrose Garlick, Chae with A C, Wildchild Suzy Rae, Zumba with Bonnie and Maddie, Brecon Little Theatre, Niamh MC, Westenders, Kazryel, Fruit, Ember Collective and Elly as Cher.
Stalls from local businesses and LGBTQIA+ organisations, including multiple food and drink stalls, will be on-site throughout the event.
The fun continues late into the night as The Wellington Hotel hosts the Brecon Pride After Party - a night of burlesque, drag, and music, with performances from Seren Dippity and Emma Rhoid.
In the run-up to the event, several fundraisers have been held, including a pub quiz and a garden party, that have proven how excited people are for the event. The Wellington Hotel, Twenty Eleven Tattoos, Erwood Craft Station, Brecon Chocolates, Brecon Beacons Sustainable Tourism and The Sweet Frosting Bakehouse have all played a huge role in showing their support for Brecon Pride this year and into the future.
A spokesperson for Brecon Pride said: “Bringing an annual Pride event to Brecon is absolutely essential for our LGBTQIA+ community, as it allows voices to be heard and helps evolve existing spaces throughout the town into areas where every person feels they can be their authentic selves.
“The level of support we have seen this year has been outstanding, and it has gone to show that love truly wins.
Along with the money raised for the event by local businesses, Brecon Town Council, Green Man, Welsh Water, The Audrey Tyler Foundation and the Welsh Government’s Grass Roots Fund have contributed to the funding needed to hold this event.
