Postmen and women at Brecon Delivery Office have been singled out for First Class dedicated service to their customers. Lib Dem MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, Roger Williams, personally visited the office in the early hours of the morning, to congratulate everyone on their achievements – the office was voted second out of 90 delivery offices across the UK for best performance from a small rural office. ""I wish to warmly congratulate the team in Brecon for their wonderful achievement. The award shows the real determination and loyalty of the staff to serve people in this very rural area of Wales." "The achievement is all the more commendable as the sorting office has been functioning at this outstanding level despite a number of staff being on long term sick leave." The 46-strong team deliver more than 150,000 items a week to almost 9,000 homes, including remote cottages and hill farms, and to small and medium sized home and office-based companies, who rely heavily on the post to carry on their business. Delivery Office Manager Terry Richardson said: "The dedication of the postmen and women here is outstanding and they really care about customers. It is a close-knit team and people work for each other and for the local community." Postman Chris Rodgers said: "We have an experienced team and people enjoy their job. We take pride in giving a good service." Teamwork even applies to postmen giving up a day off to make sure every item of mail is delivered. This has been particularly appreciated recently with ongoing long-term sickness absences among staff. Mr Williams, MP, added: "Every one in the local community that I have spoken to values the service provided by Royal Mail and its staff and I will do all I can to support this company now that its business has been thrown open to competition."
