Women from Brecon and the surrounding area will be walking to ‘Reclaim the Night’ which marks the struggle to raise awareness of violence against women and girls.
Led by Brecon’s Deputy Mayor Michaela Davies and Councillor Liz Rijnenberg, the candlelit walk will follow an accessible route starting at 8pm from Theatre Brycheiniog on Saturday 11th March and finish at the Guildhall with refreshments.
“Reclaim the Night was set up to walk in solidarity to promote safer streets for all and is held in conjunction with National Women’s Day”, said Councillor Davies.
Councillor Rijnenberg added: “We welcome everyone who wants to support this basic human right to feel and be safe. We will continue holding these vigils to protest against all forms of violence, both at home, within the workplace or in public.
"We will not give up our right to walk our streets in safety.”
