An award-winning Brecon burger restaurant is set to compete in special one-off competition as part of the National Burger Awards.

HILLS, which is a previous winner at the National Burger Awards, is returning to compete in the ultimate Champions of Champions, National Burger Awards live cook-off event.

On September 3, 30 previous winners and chefs of the awards will gather in London to compete in the Champion of Champions to see which signature burger will establish its place in history.

The competition is in honour of the event’s 10-year anniversary.

As well as Brecon’s HILLS, the 30 finalists also includes two-time winners Bleecker and El Perro Negro, as well as popular outfits such as Danny’s Burgers, The Beefy Boys and Whole Beast.

Unlike the traditional National Burger Awards format, the Champion of Champions cook-off will revolve solely around the signature burgers from each venue, meaning everything hinges on just one recipe.

Genna Ash-Brown, editor of Dine Out magazine, which hosts the event said: “We had to do something to celebrate the National Burger Awards’ 10th birthday.

“But, wow, are we excited about how the Champion of Champions has come together? If you’ve ever attended a National Burger Awards final, you’ll know how action-packed and competitive the day is, but we just know this unique burger extravaganza is going to be off the charts!”
