Brecon Town Council has reintroduced free parking on Saturdays at The Watton long stay car park, near to Brecon Bus Station.

This will run from Saturday, August 24, between 8am and 6pm, and continue every Saturday until Saturday, March 29, 2025.

Cllr John Powell, Mayor of Brecon, said: “Brecon Town Council introduced this free parking initiative several years ago to support our local businesses and make it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy their time at leisure in Brecon.

“We frequently remove the parking fees throughout each year and hope to encourage more people to visit the town centre, shop locally, and participate in community activities.”

This arrangement allows residents and visitors to park at this location without charge every Saturday during the next seven months.

The free parking period will be in force in the run up to Christmas, including the annual Brecon With Bells On event.

Brecon Town Council anticipates that this move will not only alleviate parking congestion around town, but also stimulate the local economy by attracting more shoppers and tourists to the area. The scheme is part of a broader effort to enhance the vibrancy of Brecon’s town centre by supporting small businesses that have faced challenges in recent years.

Brecon Town Council says they are committed to supporting local businesses and making Brecon a more accessible and attractive area for all.
