Cancer Research UK, Builth Wells Committee, started a fundraising competition 3 months ago, by selling a seed potato (with a free bucket) for £5.00 each.   

47 participants then planted and nurtured them until the final of the competition  which was held recently at Noyadd, Llanddewi`r Cwm (by kind permission of Mr & Mrs D.Price), where the potatoes from each of the buckets were emptied and weighed.

A spokesperson from the committee said: "Congratulations go to the  winners  John & Sheila Evans whose potatoes were the heaviest weighing  2.85 KG.

"Thanks to all who supported this event."

Refreshments were served at the `Weigh in` and a raffle, a numbers game and auction together with the £5.00 entry fees raised a total of £477.00 for the charity.
