Builth Wells Rotary Club has donated £500 in support of a man undertaking the Wye Valley Walk.

Rotary District Governor, Drewe Lacey is walking the 136-mile route to raise funds for two causes - one of which is to fight River Wye pollution.

The other is for GIST Cancer UK (Gastro Intestinal Stromal Tumour), which offers confidential support for people living with GIST cancer and their loved ones.

After an operation in 2023, Mr Lacey was diagnosed with a rare form of sarcoma, GIST, which inspired him to do the walk.

He is aiming to raise £8,000 for the the Rotary-led “Source of Life” project.

50 per cent of funds raised will support environmental charities in the Wye Valley, and 50 per cent will support GIST Cancer UK.

Builth Rotary Club recently hosted the Rhayader to Erwood leg of the walk for Mr Lacey and his family.
