POLICE are probing concerns into care at Brecon's War Memorial Hospital but haven't yet launched a full investigation.
It has been confirmed Powys teaching Health Board has commissioned an external inquiry into concerns over care at Breconshire War Memorial Hospital.
A spokesman for the health board said the police's 'investigative assessment' is examining whether officers need to launch a full scale investigation. A spokeswoman for Dyfed Powys Police confirmed this.
The force said it is looking at issues over a two year period from 2010 to 2012 at the Cerrigcochion Road hospital.
A police statement confirmed: "An investigative assessment is currently underway in relation to concerns raised about patient care at Brecon War Memorial Hospital and that the investigative assessment relates to specific patient care issues between 2010 and 2012."
The hospital is one of nine community hospitals in Powys and has 30 beds, nearly all of which are currently occupied.
It has a minor injury unit, a birth centre, children's centre and a day surgery and an operating theatre.
