Central Beacons Rescue Team received a Christmas Day callout on Wednesday to locate a lone female walker who had become disoriented.

At just after 6pm, the team received the callout from Dyfed-Powys Police and used their phone find technology in an attempt to locate the walker.

After an attempt with the phone find technology that was not entirely successful, the rescue team called upon Search and Rescue Dog Association South Wales, whilst the Central Beacons team were deployed to the hill.

A spokesperson from Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team spoke about the eventually find by search dog Dug and handler Rhi. They said: “After a short while the whistles of our lost person were heard and one of the search dogs then located the lady, otherwise safe and well.

“This was search dog Dug’s and handler Rhi’s first operational find after recently qualifying as an operational search dog team so huge congratulations to them - what a brilliant Christmas present.

“Vehicles back at base, team members then returned home to their families to continue the days festivities.”
