This Saturday, October 26, marks a significant milestone for Llandovery as the community comes together to celebrate the grand reopening of Sinema Llanymddyfri / Llandovery Cinema.

The evening promises to be a rich blend of community spirit, global awareness, and classic cinema, offering something for everyone.

Hosted at the Rhys Prichard Memorial Hall, this exciting event will kick off at 6pm with the Humanity Day Gathering, an informal and engaging discussion focusing on global themes such as education, communal well-being, and the environment.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a plate to share, contributing to a warm, collaborative atmosphere.

Alongside this gathering, a short film titled "#ForNature" by renowned climate activist, Greta Thunberg will be screened. This five-minute film, directed by Tom Mustill, explores the intersection of animal agriculture and the climate crisis, culminating in a powerful call-to-action for global change.

Humanity Day is part of a worldwide initiative that brings people together to reflect on how we can shape a better, more sustainable future.

At 7pm, the evening continues with the official reopening of Llandovery Cinema and a special screening of the timeless classic "Casablanca."

Set in wartime Morocco, this Academy Award-winning film, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, explores themes of love, duty, and sacrifice.

It remains one of the most celebrated films in cinematic history, and this screening promises to be a magical experience for both first-time and returning viewers.

Llandovery Community Cinema is committed to enriching the cultural landscape of the town by providing affordable and inclusive entertainment for residents of all ages.

This initiative, supported by the Rural Futures Programme and the National Lottery Community Fund, aims to foster social connections, promote inclusivity, and contribute to the overall well-being of the local community.

Film nights are planned throughout 2024-2025, ensuring that Llandovery Cinema becomes a vibrant hub for culture and entertainment.
