Members and friends of a chapel in Newbridge-on-Wye have donated £200 to worthy local causes.

Pentref Baptist Chapel collects donations for charity at their coffee mornings, which are held on the first Wednesday of each month.

Due to this, they were recently able to make presentations of £100 each to two local groups.

The first presentation was to Ebony, representing the Friends of Newbridge-on-Wye School, by Pentref’s Minister Rev.d Misha Pedersen. Because the evening was a more suitable time, the presentation was made at the church’s September Shared Meal.

The second presentation was to Samantha Jones, representing the Salvation Army (Newtown), by Pentref member, Clive Barrett.

After accepting and thanking the church for the money, Samantha briefly outlined some of the work of the Salvation Army in Newtown. She especially mentioned their church in the town and charity chop. The latter includes a “quiet space” for prayer, if desired, or just for rest and relaxation.

The October Coffee Morning at Pentref was again very successful with more than 20 local residents attending.
