Chris Millward Cox hosted a well-attended Sankey Afternoon at Penybont Village Hall on Sunday, February 23.

More than 60 people gathered to hear Nigel Morgan share the stories behind hymns by American evangelists Sankey and Moody. Following a blessing from Reverend Lisa, attendees enjoyed solos from the Gough family and joined in singing hymns, accompanied by Rhian Duggan.

A spread of homemade cakes and savouries followed, and the raffle raised over £500, which was split between Llandegley Church and Penybont & District Community Centre.

Chris thanked everyone involved and was asked to organise another event soon.

Looking ahead, young florist Mollie Price is hosting a floristry workshop at Penybont Village Hall on Saturday, March 29, at 1pm. Participants will create a Mother's Day Hatbox arrangement and enjoy afternoon tea. Book in advance by contacting Mollie on 07423 057 140. The cost is £40 per person, with a £10 deposit.

Penybont & District Community Centre offers regular activities, including Coolmoves Learn to Jive classes, Short Mat Bowls, and dog training.
