Brecon, Crickhowell and Hay-on-Wye Police has been made aware of people gathering in the area of a dangerous, derelict hospital site.

Concerns were raised to the Police by Talgarth residents as the situation at Talgarth Hospital site has worsened due to the increased interest on social media, seeing people travel from across the UK, as well as locals visiting.

Police and private security are conducting patrols in the area and are targeting those concerned.

A spokesperson for the police said: “If your vehicle has been seen in the area, as registered owner of the vehicle you are responsible for its use and may receive correspondence from the police. You can be liable for civil or criminal prosecution.

“Please be aware that there is a serious health risk at the site due to the presence of asbestos. This is easily transferred onto clothing, people, and vehicles.”

The Hospital and its grounds are privately owned, and trespassers can face civil prosecution. The road through the site has a right of way only, allowing vehicle users to drive through the site, but stopping is prohibited.
