Dan Hilliard, of The Greyhound Hotel in Builth Wells, is set to take part in an iconic 31.5 mile race.

The Trailhead Get Jerky Devil’s Staircase Ultra Trail Race will take place on Saturday, October 5.

The race will tackle the steep ascent of the Devil’s Staircase near Llanwrtyd Wells - the route includes of ascents and descents totalling 5,200 ft. 

Most of the race is off-road with some short sections, including the ‘hellish’ ascent (25 per cent).

Dan is running to fundraise for Wales Air Ambulance, which holds special memories for him.

The Builth Wells Rotary Club recognised Dan’s determination and kindly donated £100 for the cause.

Dan is hoping to encourage other sponsors to support him in this event.
