A Powys community has expressed its frustration and disappointment after four anti-littering signs were stolen from the roadside this week.
The signs were located along the B4520 between Pwllgloyw and Lower Chapel.
They are believed to have been taken at some point between Tuesday evening (August 6) and Thursday morning (August 8).
The signs had been erected following a successful community litter picking session along the stretch of road back in January.
The project to place the four litter picking signs was brainchild of Mick Bushell. The signs had various messages, encouraging people to take their litter home with them and keep Wales beautiful.
Mick funded much of the project himself, and with the help of Honddu Isaf Community Council, Cllr Ian McIntosh and other residents, four signs were set in place.
The cost of the four signs was around £500.
Following the discovery that the signs were missing, Cllr McIntosh contacted Powys County Council's Highways, who confirmed the signs were not removed by them, and advised that the police were notified.
Writing on social media earlier today, Cllr McIntosh said: “We are all utterly appalled that an act of goodwill for the benefit of our community and the environment has been responded to by having these signs stolen.”
