ON Friday, October 27 Ysgol y Bannau welcomed Mr Urdd to school as part of their annual Harvest Festival.
The festival was led by Year 3 children and the theme was based on the Unicef Rights of the Child, article 31 which reads: “Every child has the right to relax, play and take part in a variety of cultural and artistic activities.”
As the Urdd National Eisteddfod will be coming to Breconshire and Radnorshire in May 2018, we decided that this was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the cultural and artistic opportunities that the Urdd provides the children of Wales.
As part of our celebration the children paid £1 to dress in red, white and green (the colours of Mr Urdd and the Welsh national flag) or to wear Urdd merchandise instead of their usual school uniform.
The children danced to the theme song ‘Hei Mr Urdd’ as Mr Urdd arrived and left the service.
