Powys County Council Director of Education and Children’s Services Lynette Lovell is to retire from the council next year, it has been announced.
A former headteacher and senior officer for Powys for more than 30 years, Ms Lovell has announced that she will retire from the authority at the end of March.
“I have worked in Powys County Council for over 30 years and have had a career that I have thoroughly enjoyed. Both Children’s services and Education have been a privilege to work with and lead over recent years,” she said.
Thanking Ms Lovell for her work, Chief Executive, Emma Palmer saidL “During her distinguished career Lynette has been a Head Teacher, both Head and Director Education for the county, and more recently taken on responsibility for Children’s Services. Her contribution to the council has been huge and we wish her well in her retirement.
"Lynette will be a hard act to follow and deeply missed.”
The county council will start the recruitment process for the role shortly.
