The headteacher of Crickhowell High School is to step down from the role after more than a decade of service.

Mrs Jackie Parker has been thanked and praisedfollowing her time as head of Crickhowell High School.

Mrs Parker joined Crickhowell High School in 2008 and became headteacher in 2010. Since then, she has given service to the school, surrounding communities and Welsh education in great measure. She became pivotal in transforming education and has had a remarkable impact on the lives of thousands of young people.

Staff, the governing body, students and the community celebrated Mrs Parker through various events in the summer term and Powys County Council has expressed their gratitude for all that she has achieved over her outstanding career.

Mrs Parker is handing over the title to Ms Claire Jones who has shared the same passions and has been central to the school’s development over the last nine years. Their relationship has enabled them to achieve huge success together and Ms Jones has expressed how privileged she feels to be building upon such an exciting foundation for the education of all at Crickhowell High School, within Powys and across Wales.

Everyone at Crickhowell High School wishes Mrs Parker a well-deserved retirement filled with health, happiness and adventure.
