Plans for a new family and young persons’ attraction near the Royal Welsh Show (RWS) have been revealed.

SV Arena has acquired the area of land which previously hosted the Young People’s Village, with a view to giving the site a new lease of life.

In January it was confirmed that will be no Young People’s Village at this year’s Royal Welsh Show. The cost of living crisis was blamed for the scrapping of the popular event, which attracts thousands each year on a site around a mile from the main showground in Llanelwedd.

SV Arena will be the new venue over the course of the RWS week and will look to attract young people as well as families. The area will have two separate caravan sites - one for young people and the other for families - as well as tent and camping areas.

Two stages of entertainment will also be available. The daytime entertainment stage, SV Social, will be a satellite stage hosting live music which will help build a social area, also consisting of food and drink options and different stalls.

The night-time entertainment arena will see the return of the big-top arena, playing host to live music throughout the evening and fun-themed nights.

Events manager Sam Mumford said: “SV Arena are delighted to have acquired the land at Court Farm by kind permission of the Kinsey Family.

"SV arena will be a great venue for families and young people to stay over the course of the Royal Welsh Show week. They will be able to enjoy live entertainment and socialise in our SV Social area.”

Managing director Alex Woosnam added: “Health and safety is at the forefront of SV Arena’s objectives, rigorous health and safety planning has been undertaken to ensure the venue is somewhere that young people and families can enjoy themselves in a safe environment. We are working closely with local authorities and the Royal Welsh Show to ensure all bases are covered.”
