An award-winning Welsh singer will join Builth Male Voice Choir for their St David’s Day Concert next year.

Sara Davies from Llandysul will be a guest soloist at the choir’s concert on Saturday, March 1 at Builth Sports Centre (7:30pm start)

Ms Davies, a singer-songwriter from Llandysul, recently won the prestigious Cân i Gymru (Song for Wales) competition and is preparing to release a new album. She has a distinguished record at Eisteddfod competitions, winning the women’s solo at the 2015 Urdd Eisteddfod and earning second place in the musical solo. She was also awarded the Olwen Phillips scholarship.

A former leader of the choir Aelwyd y Waun Ddyfal, Ms Davies has extensive choral experience and has competed in several National Eisteddfod events, winning the soprano solo in 2019 and 2022, and even competing in the Blue Riband.

Ms Davies graduated with first-class honours in music from Cardiff University, where she also received a David Lloyd scholarship. As a BBC choir scholar, she has performed widely, including an unforgettable concert in Abu Dhabi with Bryn Terfel.

Now, alongside her music career, Ms Davies teaches music at Ysgol Henry Richard in Tregaron.

She looks forward to performing for the St David’s Day celebration with the Builth choir and always enjoys any opportunity to take part in concerts.
