Exam and assessment results are in for vocational learners at Brecon Beacons College, part of NPTC Group of Colleges.
James Vaughan achieved a triple distinction in his Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services qualification and is now moving on to a Criminology degree in Edge Hill University, Ormskirk, with hopes to work in military forensics in the future.
Speaking about his achievement, James said: “I am ecstatic with my BTEC results and my Welsh BACC, but this could not have been achieved without my peers and tutors who have supported me through the last two years, especially Simon, Rhian, Chay, Rachel, Nick and Ciaran who have all tutored me. Now I plan to acquire an officer bursary from The British Army and attend university at Edge Hill in Ormskirk in September to study Criminology. Hopefully, I will be able to join The Royal Military Police and have an exciting career.”
Brecon’s Level 3 students in Health and Social Care are also moving on to degree-level nursing courses after succeeding in their exams, with Nicole Davies going to Swansea University and Laura Griffiths going to the University of South Wales.
Meanwhile, the team behind the Level 3 BTEC Business with Applied Law are celebrating. Mature learner John Evans achieved a Distinction Merit in his Business Studies, and a Pass in his Law, while his partner, Sam, passed her certificate in Law. John and Sam are progressing onto the University of South Wales too, studying a Law degree and a foundation degree there respectively.
First-year students also had a great set of results, with all students in the BTEC Business and Law class continuing onto the second year of the course. Learners Dan, Morgan, Tilly and Alex were all excited to collect their results, with Tilly especially happy with her Merit. Callum Williams, in his first year for Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services, was also happy collecting his pass results.
Mark Dacey, CEO of NPTC Group of Colleges said he was delighted with the results: “The hard work of students and staff has paid off and they can’t be praised enough for the efforts that have been made to achieve these results. The results across the College Group are incredible once again, with an overall pass rate just short of 99 percent.”
