McCartneys reported an entry of 998 New Season Lambs and 141 Cull Sheep at Knighton Market on Thursday, October 17.

New Season Lambs (998) average 279.69ppk SQQ and 279.40ppk overall.

Trade topped at 319ppk for Texel Lambs from B W Gittins to £158 per head. Also to 319ppk for 49.50kg Texel Lambs from the same home.

Top price per head was £165 per head for 60.5kg Texel Lambs from B W Gittins.

It was a harder trade than the previous week but still 30ppk more than last year.  ll buyers wanted lambs but at a price. Best selling lambs were the 43-45kg lambs with cover and also the very heavy lambs

Ewes (141) averaged £83.82 with a top price of £152.00 for Texel ewes from J Bevan & Son. Mules to£108.00 from J P Breeze & Son. Hill bred to £98.00 for Welsh ewes from J B Morris.

A sharper ewe trade with eight buyers present, and strong demand for all sorts. Many of the ewes, particularly Mules, on offer were grazing types. A noticeably better trade on Hill ewes today also.
