Brecknock YFC held its 69th Annual Hedging Match on Saturday, March 1, at Lletherddu, Llanafan, with kind permission from the Lawrence family.
Hedging, a traditional rural skill, involves the careful and skilled cutting, layering, and weaving of plants such as hawthorn to form dense, living fences. These hedges are crucial for defining field boundaries, managing livestock, and supporting local wildlife. The annual event celebrates this important agricultural craft, with competitors showcasing their expertise in both unaided and aided classes.
The Federation extends its sincere thanks to the hosts, judge Mr.Mike Starkey, and Troedrhiwdalar YFC for providing refreshments. Gratitude also goes to the stewards, county officials, and aiders who supported the teams in the aided classes, ensuring the event ran smoothly. Thanks are also due to Hay & Brecon Farmers for their support and to Gwyn and Trefor for hosting a training day on February 22.

Brecknock YFC is affilated to the National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs and Wales YFC. As a county, they have have 12 clubs and more than 500 members.
The Federation is concerned with the personal development of young people and seeks to achieve its objectives through a wide range of programmes which the members have the responsibility for designing and management of the delivery.
