MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, Fay Jones, has today said that the scrapped Gilestone Farm Project was a 'waste of taxpayer funding'.
Today, 29th of January, Economy Minister Vaughan Gething announced that the plans for Gilestone Farm, which would see the growth of the Green Man Festival event company, are no longer going ahead, due to nesting osprey birds in the area.
The birds are protected, and it is the first time they have been seen in the area for 200 years.
Ms Jones said: "The purchase of Gilestone Farm without a business plan should never have happened. This has been a waste of taxpayer funding which has caused unnecessary division in a community.
"While I am glad that Green Man will remain in Powys as an asset to our area, work must now begin with the community to determine the future of Gilestone Farm."
In 2022, the Welsh Government acquired Gilestone Farm for £4.25 million 'to support the growth of the creative sector in Wales.'
