FIRE crews are back out in Knighton dealing with flooding with an alert issued for the river Teme.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said its Knighton crew was called out just before 10am this morning to pump out a home, near the river, in the town centre.

Crews from Knighton and Presteigne were pumping out residential properties in the Mill Green area until gone 3am this morning.

They were called out shortly after 9pm on Thursday, November 14. A fire service Land Rover based at Presteigne was also part of the response last night.

Fire crews also helped place sandbags, supplied by Powys County Council, around properties in the area.

An amber flood alert remains in place upstream on the Upper Teme, including Knighton.

Welsh Government environment body Natural Resources Wales (NRW) said: "At 6:15 AM, the level at Dutlas was 1.4 metres and falling. A peak level of 2.0 metres occurred at 9:45 PM yesterday. The level at Knighton was 1.8 metres and falling. A peak level of 2.1 metres occurred at 11:15 PM yesterday."

There is also an amber alert on place on the river Wye in Powys. NRW said: "At 6:15 AM, the level at Llandewi was 1.5 metres and falling. A peak level of 1.7 metres occurred at 10:00 PM yesterday. The level at Disserth was 3.0 metres and falling. A peak level of 3.0 metres occurred at 4:30 AM today. The level at Builth Wells was 3.0 metres and falling. A peak level of 3.1 metres occurred at 1:30 AM today. The level at Erwood was 2.9 metres and falling. A peak level of 3.0 metres occurred at 1:30 AM today. The level at Glasbury was 2.7 metres and falling. A peak level of 2.8 metres occurred at 1:45 AM today. The level at Hay on Wye was 2.5 metres and falling. A peak level of 2.5 metres occurred at 2:45 AM today."NRW has said this afternoon river levels are falling and it will issue its next updates at 6pm.
