Carers in Brecon are being offered free advice on respite relief.

Abacare, which provides care across Wales, is hosting a Respite Care Awareness Week from July 25 until 29 and will be advising people on the topic.

Sue Richardson, operations executive and carer at Abacare, said: “Lots of people who care for friends or family members aren’t aware of the respite relief they can benefit from. They deserve a well-earned rest as looking after someone can often become physically and emotionally overwhelming.

“We are inviting carers to call us on 0345 163 2150 to get some free advice on the different ways they can look after themselves and give themselves a break.

“We can also let people know about our respite relief services. As well as live-in care, we can also provide social care workers to individuals or families who require it on a temporary basis.”
