The all-star festival cricket team put down their pens in favour of a cricket bat at the Hay Festival cricket match umpired by Stephen Fry on Wednesday, May 29.
Hay Festival Global teamed up with The Authors Cricket team, which has a 100-year history with the likes of PG Wodehouse, AA Milne and Arthur Conan Doyle on past teams.
The festival team featured broadcaster Adam Rutherford; writers Robert Macfarlane and Charlie Campbell; comedians Marcus Brigstocke and Carrie Quinlan; musician and actor Johnny Flynn. Despite being joined by professional cricketers Claire Taylor and Azeem Rafiq, the festival team suffered a narrow loss against Hay Town, captained by John Sly.
