A fundraising ‘Can EWE ABXY’ event took place recently at Brecon Livestock Market by kind permission of McCartneys, raising money for Wales Air Ambulance, a leukaemia charity and Brecknock YFC.

The event was organised by Owen Watkins and his band of helpers.

The sponsors for the event were Hay & Brecon Farmers, Datamars Livestock, Sugar Loaf Clothing, Smithfield Tractors, McCartneys, R M Jones Farm Centres, Spa Motors, Rumenco, Elanco, Builth Wells Veterinary Practices, Welsh Farm Supplies, Show Winners Livestock, Equine & Pet Grooming Products, Small Holding & Countryside Festival.

The commentators, who kept the evening running smoothly, were Nick Jones and Ellie Layton.

Competitors had to judge 10 rings of various breeds of sheep while the judges Dafydd Lewis and Caryl Howells also decided their placings.

Thanks to all who provided excellent stock for the evening.

The market was full with more than 90 taking part in the YFC and Open Section.

Winners YFC Section – 1st Elin Havard, Sennybridge YFC, 2nd Sophie, Beulah YFC and 3rd Rhian Price, Troedrhiwdalar YFC.

In the Open Section – 1st Jan Healey, 2nd Christie Joseph and joint 3rd – Aled Groucott and Carwyn Pugh.

Everyone enjoyed refreshments served by Maureen and her team and the whole evening raised £1,634.42 to support the three very worthy causes.
