The Army Benevolent Fund has thanked students at Brecon High School for raising vital funds for the charity.

Before Christmas, Year 7, Year 9, and Year 11 students were spoken to by the Army Benevolent Fund, who found the students to be engaged, thoughtful, and full of energy.

To raise money and support the charity, students from the school held a non-uniform day, and raised further funds through activities such as a “guess the number of sweets” competition.

A spokesperson for the Army Benevolent Fund told the Brecon & Radnor Express: “We’re incredibly grateful to the school for not only welcoming us but also supporting our charity through their non-uniform day.

“Your kindness and generosity will make a real difference in helping us achieve our mission.

“To the pupils, staff, and everyone involved, thank you for making this happen. Together, we’re creating positive change!”

The school raised an impressive total of £150 for the charity.

A Year 7 student known as Edward correctly guessed the number of sweets.

A cuddly toy dog competition was also held, which was won by Gracie Bowen from Year 11.

The Army Benevolent Fund is the national charity of the British Army, providing a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families.

Last year, the charity supported an estimated 75,000 people in 51 countries around the world. As one of the largest funders in the sector, they award grants to individuals and families, and fund leading organisations that support soldiers, former soldiers, and their families. When they hear of a person or family in need, they aim to respond within 48 hours.
