Plaid Cymru in Brecon and Radnorshire has chosen Freddy Greaves to contest the seat for the party in this May’s Welsh Assembly Election.
Mr Greaves was the Plaid Cymru candidate at the 2015 General Election, where he secured the best result for Plaid in over 40 years.
Mr Greaves said: “I am excited to be standing again for Plaid Cymru - Party of Wales, in the Assembly election.
"I look forward to building on the positive campaign we ran for last year’s general election and helping to secure the change Wales needs.
"A Plaid Cymru government will cut business rates for our small businesses and improve their access to finance through a new Bank of Wales. It’s clear that the Welsh Government are failing public services in Powys and we would rebalance funding to recognise the needs of rural Wales.
"I am pleased to announce I will also be standing on the regional list for Mid and West Wales. Every regional vote Plaid receives will ensure we are one step closer to having Leanne Wood as our First Minister and at last a government in Cardiff that works for everyone in Wales."
Justin Horrell, Plaid Cymru Brecon and Radnorshire Chairperson, said: "Freddy has drive, enthusiasm and a real passion for the future of Brecon and Radnorshire. We are looking forward to supporting Freddy as a true local candidate and building on the progress we made in the 2015 General Election campaign."
To kick off his campaign, Mr Greaves will be leading on a protest against the TTIP trade deal this Saturday, from 10.30am-12pm in Bethel Square, Brecon.
Mr Greaves was born in Gladestry and grew up in Radnorshire. He went to high school in Builth Wells and from there went to the University of Cambridge to study Natural Sciences.
He is married with three children and is one of the managers of the Powys Youth Service.
