On Saturday, July 13, Gwernyfed Community Council proudly unveiled its new logo during the Three Cocks Show.

This event marked the culmination of a logo design competition involving the talented pupils of Gwernyfed High School. The winning design was created by Charles Dooney, whose innovative and vibrant logo was selected by the councillors from a pool of impressive entries.

The competition, overseen by Headteacher Kirsty Retallick and Assistant Head Kayleigh Hughes, encouraged students to showcase their creativity while contributing to the community. The council extended its heartfelt thanks to both Kirsty and Kayleigh for their invaluable support in making this competition a success.

Gwernyfed Community Council believe Charles Dooney's winning design encapsulates the council’s spirit and values. It symbolises the beginning of a broader initiative to refresh and revitalise the council's profile.

There is a recognised need to enhance local understanding and awareness of the council’s vital role in supporting the community. This is echoed by the support at the Three Cocks Show by running the tea & coffee stand for the day. This is the second year in doing this and is helping raise the profile of the community council.

As part of this ongoing effort, the Gwernyfed Community Council is also seeking new members to join its ranks.

A spokesperson for the Community Council said: “We welcome individuals of all ages who are passionate about making a difference in their local area. Becoming a councillor is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in community affairs, contribute ideas, and help shape the future of Gwernyfed.

“For those interested in joining the council or learning more about its activities, please visit our website or contact us directly at [email protected]

“We look forward to welcoming new members who can bring fresh perspectives and energy to our dedicated team.”

The logo unveiling was one of the many highlights of the afternoon with a community lottery draw, a raffle and multiple activities taking place throughout the day. The event, blessed with pleasant weather, attracted a large crowd who came for an afternoon of fun and community spirit.
