Hay Festival Global CEO Julie Finch joined teachers and pupils at Gwernyfed High School on World Book Day to open a new library at the school.

Julie helped cut the ribbon and donated some books on behalf of the festival.

Speaking about the day, Julie Finch said: "At Hay Festival Global, we believe books can change the world. It was an honour to spend World Book Day with teachers and pupils at Gwernyfed High School opening their new library and donating a stack of titles from our next edition to fill the shelves.

“Access to books and spaces where they can be read for pleasure is essential for promoting wellbeing, empathy and fulfilment in the next generation. Every school needs a great library – our future depends on it."
