Powys Brecknock’s WI recently held their annual show in Llanfaes Church Hall.
As always there was a large number of entries in the cookery, craft, photography and floral arrangement classes from WIs across Brecknock, as well as entries in the Rose Bowl and Brecon Cup, whose winners will now compete at the Royal Welsh Show.
Mary Robinson, Chair of Brecknock WI said: “Congratulations go to all the prize winners at our show yesterday. The judges commented on the very high standard of all the competitions and the excellent number of entries.
“We wish Anne Collins, Three Cocks WI, who won the Brecon Cup and Bwlch and Cathedine WI, who won the Rose Bowl, good luck when they compete against the other counties of Wales at the Royal Welsh Show in July.
“Congratulations also goes to Fiona Morgan, representing Aberhonddu Angels, who received the Margery Davies Award for the most points in cookery, craft and floral. The overall winners of the WI Show were Bwlch and Cathedine who received the Federation Salver.”
Margery Davies, Chairman of the Craft and Home Economics team from Llangynidr WI said: “There was a very high standard, and some wonderful displays on the theme ‘Welsh Myth or Legend’. I would like to thank all involved in organising an excellent event - and very grateful for members taking part even if they didn't win. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces and new WI members.”
