Despite the inclement weather, Huntington Village has raised more than £2,500 at its annual fundraising summer event.
This historic fete has become a highly anticipated occasion on the Herefordshire calendar.
Held in the beautiful gardens of Huntington Court, the home of William and Fiona Shone, the fete was as popular as ever, and the rain did not deter people from attending.
This year, the fete was opened by Sandra Jones, a long-time village resident for 46 years. Sandra has been running the produce stall at the fete for many years, taking over from her mother-in-law, Dorothy Jones before her. Sandra was presented with a posy of flowers by her granddaughter, Francesca.
The funds raised are a testament to the community's generosity and will be instrumental in maintaining Huntington’s churches and Village Hall. This year, the funds will also support the Patient Participation Group (PPG) of Kington Medical Practice. The PPG is currently raising funds to purchase a blood-testing centrifuge machine. This machine will revolutionise local healthcare, allowing blood tests to be carried out at the surgery, significantly speeding up the diagnosis of local patients.
The organisers are grateful for the overwhelming support from everyone involved and all those who attended.
“Your contributions have made a significant difference and we couldn't have done it without you,” a spokesperson said.
