Hollywood actor Kevin Bacon stayed in a hotel in Llandrindod Wells last night before filming in Llanbister for a new feature length film which is due to be released next year.

The 60-year-old star from Philadelphia, who is famous for films such as Footloose and X-Men: First Class as well as his regular EE advert appearances, stayed at Room 19 in the Hotel Commodore on Spa Road.

The upcoming film "You Should Have Left", based on the psychological thriller/horror book by German author Daniel Kehlmann, is being shot in various locations across Wales.

Owner Andrea Murdock, who posted about the encounter on the hotel’s Twitter page, said: "It was wonderful, he was so nice and super friendly.

"Even after a long day of travelling on the coach he was still happy to stop to have a chat and take pictures with staff and guests."

Also staying at the hotel was the upcoming film’s director 55-year-old David Koepp - a screenwriter who is known for his work on

blockbusters such as Mission: Impossible, Jurassic Park, the 2002 rendition of Spider-Man, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

The two men, who are understood to have left a tip for housekeeping staff, had breakfast at the hotel before checking out at 8am to go to the film set however Kevin had accidentally left his iPad in the room.

Surprised Ms Murdock drove to the Life House, today’s filming location, in Llanbister to give it back.

The film’s protagonists will be played by Kevin Bacon alongside Mamma Mia star Amanda Seyfried and Joe Garvey who appeared in Captain America.

The story, which takes influence from masterpieces such as The Shining, it about a screenwriter who travels to a remote house in the Alps with his family so that he can write a sequel to his big hit film, but things take a dark turn as he starts suffering from severe writer’s block.
