A fundraising event was held earlier this year at which more than £800 was raised.
The money raised was shared between the Rotary Foundation Charity and the DPJ Foundation, a Welsh mental health charity that supports those in agriculture and rural communities with mental health problems.
On receiving the cheque, Cllr William Powell, a Regional Champion for the DPJ Foundation in South Powys, commented: “We are extremely grateful to Brecon Rotary for making this generous donation to the charity. At a turbulent and unpredictable time for farming and the wider rural economy, the DPJ Foundation’s work supporting those in or associated with agriculture with poor mental health has never been more important.
“This kind donation from Brecon Rotary will help us to sustain our awareness raising work and our 24/7 helpline. It will also assist us to continue delivering our training programmes, such as the session hosted by McCartneys at Brecon Market last week.”
Brecon Rotary would like to thank Zeera Indian Restaurant for hosting the Curry Night and to those Rotarians, local businesses including The Tai’r Bull, Libanus, Head Candi and Headquarters, Hairdressers, Brecon and the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation for the prizes they donated.
