Builth Wells Rotary Club recently hosted its annual Senior Citizens Christmas Party at Ysgol Calon Cymru, a tradition that has been bringing the community together for over 50 years.
The belated festive gathering welcomed 82 guests from Builth Wells and surrounding villages, offering an opportunity to socialise and celebrate. Guests enjoyed a sherry reception, followed by a traditional turkey dinner, dessert, cheese and biscuits, mince pies, and a warm beverage.
A donation from Castell Howell was gratefully received, as they contributed generously by providing most of the food.
Dressed in their finest, the Rotarians served the meals before the party got into full swing with live music from local folk group The Cardboard Box Thieves. The entertainment continued with games of bingo, building excitement before the grand raffle draw, ensuring every guest left with a gift.
The event was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the Rotary Club’s volunteers, particularly the hardworking women of the Rotary, who were praised for their organisation. Head Cook Simon Plumridge oversaw food preparation, ensuring a festive feast for all.
Builth Wells Rotary is actively involved in charity work throughout the year, supporting individuals and groups with specific needs. The club meets every Thursday evening at The Greyhound Hotel and welcomes new members.
