A team from Dering Lines is set to take on a weighted trek of the Beacons Way to raise money for Brecon Mountain Rescue.
The Senior Division and Survivability Wing of The Infantry Battle School will complete the iconic challenge as a team in September.
The Beacons Way is a linear route which runs for 99 miles east to west through the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, and passes many of the most important landmarks and mountain peaks in area.
The five-strong team will begin the trek in Abergavenny in Monmouthshire and finish in Llangadog in Carmarthenshire.
The team will have just four days to complete this feat - this is half the allotted time usually taken to complete the route. Covering around 25 miles a day, the team will also be carrying a pack weighing 15kg and complete the walk with minimal support.
Brecon Mountain Rescue Team is an emergency service and charity staffed entirely by volunteers and funded by donations.
They provide specialist search and rescue capabilities, combined with emergency medical expertise, to find and assist people who may be in danger. The team is deployed all year round, in all weather conditions, on all terrains.
The money required to sustain this essential service has significantly increased due the rise in cost of living. The team has significant overheads to operate and maintain services at the HQ building, which includes vehicles, a range of technical equipment, training, and protective clothing for the team.
