Around 80 pupils with additional learning needs from four schools across Powys recently gathered at Rhayader Leisure Centre for a careers fair.

The "What Next? Choose Your Future" careers fair introduced students to a wide range of career and education opportunities.

Pupils from Ysgol Robert Owen, Ysgol Penmaes, Brynllywarch Hall School and Llanidloes High School (ASD Unit, Autistic Spectrum Disorder Centre) took part in the event.

Organised by Careers Wales with support from local businesses and community organisations, the event provided an engaging approach to exploring future career paths.

Pupils interacted directly with employers and participated in activities designed to broaden their understanding of potential jobs and education options after school.

One of the highlights of the event was CareersCraft, an online interactive tool that allowed students to explore various careers by virtually visiting landmarks across Wales.

Sam Barker, a Careers Wales business engagement adviser, said: “This event is all about connecting young people with practical experiences and direct interactions with employers.

“Events like this help build confidence and motivation, giving pupils the tools to consider their futures with enthusiasm and make more informed decisions about their future careers.”

A teacher from Ysgol Penmaes said: "There were lots of different activities for learners to engage with. These events help broaden horizons for our pupils.”
