The Welsh Government has recently announced plans to make the Senedd more modern and effective.
The plans include an estimated figure of £17.8m a year for 36 more politicians in the Welsh Parliament.
Responding to the Welsh Governments estimated figure of £17.8m a year for 36 more politicians in the Senedd, James Evans MS said: "Costing as much as £17.8m extra a year, new figures for Senedd reform cannot be justified when just weeks ago, the First Minister was telling us how Wales is in the worst financial situation since devolution began.
"It’s disappointing that Welsh Labour Ministers continue to press ahead with plans to increase the size of the Senedd at a cost of tens of millions each year while threatening to cut budgets for schools and hospitals."
Mr Evans added: "There’s a valid argument for having more scrutiny but this Welsh Labour Government refuses to accept any scrutiny and this exercise is only being done to keep their voting partners in Plaid Cymru happy.
"The focus needs to be on getting the bread-and-butter issues under control in Wales and until the people of Wales start to see vast improvements in public services, there should be no more politicians and no more powers given to the Senedd.”
