A large antique knife which was surrendered to police will now be donated to a museum in Brecon.
Eagle-eyed Brecon & Radnor Express readers commented on Facebook regarding the newspaper’s online story that the scary-looking knife being surrendered looked like a weapon from World War II.
The blade, which was at risk of destruction, was surrendered at Presteigne Police Station on Monday, June 17 as part of UK-wide Operation Sceptre.
Following the initial story on B&R website, readers were quick to point out that it was in fact a “rare World War II British, Middle Eastern commando knuckleduster knife”.
The comments on Facebook were forwarded to Dyfed-Powys police within a day of the knife’s surrender.
PCSO Anna Bowen said: “It is still with me at Presteigne Police Station at present. However, PCSO Hannah Swales of Brecon Police Station has agreed to donate it on my behalf to The Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh.”
